Fire Text

In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to make fire text like in the preview shown below:

Start out by making a new Grayscale document. I used 500 x 300 so I can have a lot of room to move around in. Now make your background black. Take your text tool and type out whatever you want to be engulfed in flames. Make it white.

Now go to Image> Rotate Canvas> Rotate 90 CW.

Now go Filter> Stylize> Wind. Go from left at the lowest setting. Then do the Wind filter again with the same settings.

Image > Rotate Canvas> Rotate 90 degrees CCW.

Filter> Blur > Gaussian Blur. Use the any setting between 1 – 3.

Now go Filter> Blur> Motion Blur. 75 degrees and around 20 -30 strength.

Filter> Distort> Ripple. Amount: 100 Size: Medium.

Now Go to Image> Mode> Index. Then go to Image> Mode> Color Table and select Black Body.
Congratulations! You have learned how to create Fiery text.

Only works if you have one of the latest versions of photoshp i guess… And I dont have it:S So I will just improvise something … Sometimes improvising might turn out even better!

I first tried it accidentally using RGB-Color Settings, which looked real bad. Switching to Grayscale solved the problem. Looks much better now
“Indexed Color” seems to work.

For those of you having problems, I had the same problem. Here’s how I found out how to fix it. First, you MUST have a solid black background (create a new fill layer and make it solid black). That’s key. It doesn’t work with a transparent background. Make sure your ‘FIRE’ layer is sitting in front of the black background and not behind. Select Image>Mode>Indexed Color. This will flatten the black background with the ‘FIRE’ text. Now you’ll be ready for the final step. Image>Mode>Color Table. Select Black Body.
